Is Wavves the Britney Spears of Indie?

So, I feel kinda bad for Wavves, guys.

I'm sure, by now, you've all heard about Wavves's massive breakdown at a festival in Barcelona. Well, here's the pic that really says it all:

I like to make fun of Wavves as much as the next guy. He's an easy target, we're all jealous of his quick success, he's kind of a douche, I get it. But let's be honest with ourselves... his LP is not that bad. It's really not. It's not the greatest LP of all time, but it's good for an occasional listen if you don't need anything too stimulating, you know?

Anyway, it's no secret that Wavves has become this lo-fi/indie/weird punk symbol and we all love to talk about him. This recent breakdown he had is being covered in such a tabloid way. I get it, I get the fascination, but for some reason this whole thing is really upsetting to me. As much as I've hated on Wavves I've always been kind of sad for him. I knew he was going to end up 23 and sad and lonely after all his indie-fame wore off. Dude is too young and naive for this shit.

(Not that I'm not 23 and lonely, but no one is celebrating my downfall)

I have no desire to pay money for a Wavves concert or a Wavves record, but he's just a little dude who has a lot to learn about the world. I'm not surprised this happened, I've been expecting it, but it makes me sad.

In summation:

LEAVE WAVVES ALONE!!!!
